Prior to joining Rocketship, Mary Hanni was a teacher for five years teaching third through sixth-grade math and reading. Mary earned her Bachelor of Political Science from Marian University and has two master’s degrees, one in history from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and the other in elementary education from Delta State University. Mary received her education specialist degree and administrative license from National Louis University in 2016. Mary started working at Rocketship Southside Community Prep (RSCP) in 2015 as a second-grade humanities teacher. After two years of teaching, she became an assistant principal, supporting all humanities teachers. During her time as an assistant principal, Mary helped develop RSCP’s guided reading and close reading instruction. Mary also worked with the network support team to develop test prep units aligned with the WI Forward for both Milwaukee schools.
