Rocketship United Academy is a Two-Time Reward School!
William Hill, Executive Director of Rocketship Public Schools Tennessee
We are excited to share that Rocketship United Academy has been recognized as a Reward School by the Tennessee Department of Education for a second time. This designation is the state’s highest honor for academic performance.
Only 21 schools in Nashville-Davidson County received this designation for the 2022-23 school year. According to the TDOE, eligibility for Reward Status is based on performance across multiple indicators essential to student success, including academic achievement, growth, chronic absenteeism, and support for English learners.
As a Title 1 school with a large English Language Learner population, the majority of our students are socioeconomically disadvantaged students of color. To receive the Reward School designation, our school had to demonstrate the highest level of academic progress for all student groups. Rocketship United Academy outperformed district and state averages for students of color, economically disadvantaged students, and English Language Learners.
Our Rocketeers are proving that all students have the potential to achieve excellence, irrespective of where they were born or how much money their parents earn. We are partnering with families and closing opportunity gaps! We’re seeing this success because we strongly emphasize academic acceleration – meeting our students where they are – and helping them learn more in one school year than expected. Our dedicated teachers and staff support our Rocketeers’ social and emotional needs and instill a love of learning in each child.
