Jason Colón,

Jason Colon is the Interim Principal of Rocketship Delta Prep and a Director of Schools of Rocketship Califiornia. Prior to his time here, he was the Principal at Si Se Puede and served as the Founding Principal of Rocketship Futuro Academy in Concord, CA.  In 2005, Jason started his career in education as a Miami Teaching Fellow. His first assignment was a self-contained sixth grade class made up of 30 students with a variety of disabilities.

After two years of teaching students with disabilities, he realized the need to revamp some of the systems in place within Miami public schools. He decided to get a master degree in special education and urban studies while continuing to serve students. After five years in the middle school setting, he transitioned to high school where he taught math to ninth graders within an inclusion model. At the high school level, he primarily focused on ninth grade math and also taught college-ready courses. After three years, he decided to transition once again into a different setting.

In 2013, Jason joined Rocketship in San Jose, California where he taught math to fourth graders at Rocketship Mateo Sheedy. The following year he taught English Language Arts and Learning Lab with one block available to develop his coaching/leadership skills. He then joined the school leader team at Mateo Sheedy where he directly supported grade four, five, Learning Lab, and enrichment courses.

As an educator, Jason lives by the following mantra: “Everything we do matters, thus everything we do, we do with PURPOSE!”
