Danisha West is the current principal at Rocketship Sí Se Puede. Her career in education began in 2012 as a Kindergarten teacher in Athens, GA serving a diverse community of learners striving to grow and learn.
After teaching in Georgia’s public school districts for 3 years, she realized the need to expand her teaching and leadership at schools that aligned with her equity focus beliefs and values which brought her to the East Bay in 2016. She taught 5th grade math in West Oakland for a year and taught reading for three years in Richmond, California. While in Richmond, she spearheaded mentoring groups and served as a team lead for three years with a focus on bringing the community together to increase student success.
In 2020, Danisha joined Rocketship Fuerza in San Jose, California as an assistant principal in the midst of a pandemic. At Fuerza, she coached STEM teachers and ILS instructors. Now, as the principal of Sí Se Puede she coaches interventionists and the ISE team. As an educator, she believes this work is impactful and it’s our responsibility to help students and families become agents of change and lifelong learners.
