Gabriela is a native of the Bay Area, born and raised in San Francisco to immigrants from El Salvador, and a first-generation college graduate. She has served as an educator in the East San Jose community for 12 years, and was most recently the assistant principal at KIPP Prize Preparatory Academy. Gabby joined KIPP in 2007 and, while there, served in various roles including teaching, Director of Operations, and AP of Culture, in addition to supporting KIPP Bay Area regional work for new schools and rising leaders, helping to build a strong foundation for high-quality schools within KIPP Bay Area. She also worked for the KIPP Foundation, serving on the KIPP School Leadership Programs team as the Director, AP Community where she led and supported the design and execution of multiple leadership development programs for over 600 rising school leaders and teachers leaders within the KIPP network over the course of 2.5 years. Gabby is a graduate of San Jose State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music Education. Being the daughter of Latino immigrants and the first in her family to receive a college education, Gabby is driven by her belief that high-quality education is the right of every child, and is passionately committed to the East San Jose community and the success of all children through equitable outcomes.
