Rocketship is committed to supporting new teachers and hourly staff (interested in pursuing a teaching career) in their credentialing trajectory. We offer support through credential career counseling, test preparation, tuition assistance, and dedicated program partnerships! Teachers joining Rocketship in CA who do not already hold a license will enroll in an intern credential program. This allows them to teach while simultaneously working toward their credential. Our program partner, National University, is a self-paced program designed for working professionals that takes teachers 1.5 years on average but tailored to the individual. Once the internship is completed, teachers earn a Preliminary Credential which is valid for five years.

After the Intern Program, most teachers will choose to continue to work toward their Clear Credential. This is a two-year Induction Program during which they work with a mentor weekly and submit projects to demonstrate progress as a teacher. After completion of the Induction Program, teachers earn their Clear Credential which is valid for an additional five years (and can be renewed without additional requirements).

Teachers joining Rocketship in TN who do not already hold a license will enroll in an educator preparation program and pass Praxis 5001 to be recommended for their Practitioner License which is valid for three years. This allows them to teach while simultaneously working to pass other tests required to advance to a Professional License.

Education Specialists joining Rocketship in WI who do not already hold a license will enroll in an educator preparation program while we apply for them to be on a One Year License with Stipulation (valid for one school year) This allows them to teach while simultaneously working toward their license. Once the program is completed, Education Specialists earn a Provisional License which is valid for three years. After three years of teaching experience, you can renew or advance to a lifetime license.

*Note: General Education teachers have the option to pass the Praxis test (based on the grade level you are teaching) to apply for a Charter School Teacher License which is valid for 5 years and can be renewed without additional requirements. However, the Charter School Teacher License is ineligible for an Administrative License (required for all school leaders in WI).

Teachers joining Rockethship in DC have some flexibility around credentialing. Please apply and reach out to your recruiter for different pathways.

As an additional perk to our teachers, Rocketship partners with Teachers Test Prep, an online test preparation program, to support you with passing your credential tests. When you join Rocketship, Rocketship will pay for you to receive access to practice tests, video tutorials, and practice questions to help you prepare. We have found that teachers who use this with fidelity typically pass their test on the first attempt!
