Rising Stars Ribbon-Cutting : Celebrating our 10th San Jose School

On Friday September 30th, the Rocketship Bay Area community gathered at our newest San Jose school, Rocketship Rising Stars Academy. Located at 3167 Senter Road in South San Jose, Rising Stars is our 10th school in San Jose and one of 12 in the greater Bay Area.
The ribbon-cutting brought together Rocketship students, parents, teachers, national staff, board members, supporters, and community members to celebrate this new school and their focus on Rising Stars’ fifth core value of advocacy.
Rocketship schools bring parent advocacy, personalized learning and excellent teachers together to rethink education and close the achievement gap. Rocketship Rising Stars Academy is a true testament to these pillars. Parents, rocketeers and their teachers all spoke passionately about how Rocketship has impacted their lives.
“I made the decision to enroll my son in Rocketship because I wanted a strong start for him in an environment where he could learn and be successful,” said Griselda Campos, Rocketship mother. “When he came to Rocketship, I started noticing differences in his attitude towards learning. Here, his teachers see him, they talk through lessons with him, they read with him and all this has helped him find his voice and love for learning.”
Rocketeer student speakers proclaimed this love of learning to their classmates, parents, teachers and even San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo joined in the celebrations.
Parent Leader Aurora Aceves closed the ceremony with a powerful message to all parents. “Give your children the opportunity to try something new and challenge themselves. A great school provides both inspiration and individual support to the students and parents from the first day they walk through the doors. This is what Rocketship means to my family. I want all parents to know we are the role models for our children. The best investment is in our kids. They are our future!
